What can I do?

So with elections around the corner, all political parties are doing what they are good at - Making Promises. I wonder if they even remember what they had promised last elections. Also its so funny that some people are being fooled so easily with short-term freebies like a 1000 bucks or a free sari or even worse- a bottle of liquor . When will people realise the importance of a vote. Most don't vote saying only corrupt politicians will come to power no matter what. Hmm i don't think they will ever realize that "Bad politicians are chosen by good people, who fail to vote ". How many are aware of Section 49-o ? Recently , mails were going around with the following content :

Did you know that there is a system in our constitution, as per the 1969 act, in section "49-O" that a person can go to the polling booth, confirm his identity, get his finger marked and convey the presiding election officer that he doesn't want to vote anyone!Yes such a feature is available, but obviously these seemingly notorious leaders have never disclosed it. This is called "49-O". Why should you go and say "I VOTE NOBODY"… because, in a ward, if a candidate wins, say by 123 votes, and that Particular ward has received "49-O" votes more than 123, then that polling will be cancelled and will have to be re-polled. Not only that, but the candidature of the contestants will be removed and they cannot contest the re-polling, since people had already expressed their decision on them. This would bring fear into parties and hence look for genuine candidates for their parties for election. This would change the way; of our whole political system… it is seemingly surprising why the election commission has not revealed such a feature to the public.

Even i like everyone believed it without verifying the authenticity of the content. But after googling i found that it was an incorrect information. Wiki says ,"It describes the procedure to be followed when a valid voter decides not to cast his vote, and decides to record this fact. The apparent purpose of this section is to prevent the election fraud or the misuse of votes. "

So even 49-o is not an option for those people (me too :) )who were fed up with corrupt politicians . Why would i stand in a line for 2 hrs and then say i don want to vote. If i don't vote , then too corrupt politicians will get elected. So What can i do??

Sometimes this makes me think that I should jump into politics. :) . Nahh am lazy.. i wont make a good politician too. The nation needs people who are totally dedicated to the development of the country. But in this current scenario , who will even enter politics. Every parents want their kids to be a doctor or engineer. As a result only politicians kith & kin become politicians. Will this ever change.??Well there is just a possibilty.

At present what can i do??? The only thing i can think of is vote for a change. Why vote for the same faces again and again. Why not vote someone who has never had the chance to do? Well this thought holds good if i am voting for assembly elections. But for national election, I ,voting for a regional party won't do any good. Its very clear that in a coalition government, the Prime Minister won't have a free hand. All of his decisions will be influenced by his allies. Most of the time will be spent to please the allies as to increase their vote-base rather than taking concrete decisions. So should Multi-party system be replaced with two-party system. Well the answer will be Yes and No.Yes -because then goverment can run efficiently for 5 yrs like how it used to run after our independence. No -because Multi-party system gives representations to groups which are different in beliefs/castes etc. But if these groupism and casteism were abolished.. Would there be any need ? :) But this too is again a distant dream.

So what can I do???

Just pray for a miracle that someday politicians will be free of corruption :)

Visit to Big Bazaar with Bhadri and Sivas

One fine Sunday evening, me and Bhadri were watching tiruvannamalai movie in his laptop. We had just finished watching the marvellous introduction scene when we were confronted with an abominable(simply using this word. i dunno what it means) black guy in red pants and red chappal in our room- Sivass. He wanted to buy a computer table as he found it tough to operate his comp in his room. Given below is a snapshot of Sivas(s) room.

Due to his constant pestering we were forced to pause the movie and embark on our journey to Big Bazaar Near ITPL. So we go to bus stop in shorts and T-shirt and wait for bus( Duhh !). A Volvo comes and we get inside it. When the conductor came each of us where looking top or outside the window trying to ignore him. The conductor finally gave a pat to Bhadri and asked him cash for ticket. Kicha joined us in the next stop near Cosmos. He didn 't have enough cash so he bought a ticket with whatever he had. With that ticket he should get down two stops before the stop he actually has to get down. But he just put his head down and pretended to be very busy talking to us so that he can also get down along with us near Big Bazaar. Ha ha finally we get down and Kicha too gets down in a hurry to escape from the eyes of the conductor. On returning we find that we had not paid any money for the ticket :D . What actually happened was that when the conductor had asked Bhadri for ticket money, i think 55 rs, Bhadri showed him a 100 rs note to which he asked for 5 rs. Bhadri gave him 5 rs and the conductor gave him back 50 rs. So basically the conductor gave us 45 rs for travelling in Volvo. hmmm ....

So after this we enter Big Bazaar and go straight to buy the computer table. There were three models and basically Sivas didn't like any of them and says that's all lets head back. So that's it ?? I and Bhadri gave him a look similar to what Captain Vijaykanth had given in Narasimha for disturbing us and stopping us from watching the Perarasu's massive hit"Tiruvannamalai" :D. Since we had come so far we thought we'll just look araound for sometime and then go. But in the end we ended up shopping lots. I bought a trouser and Bhadri bought a pair of shoes. Hmm after coming out we realise that we went to shopping for sivas but actually we ended up shopping. After that we head back to our house in auto with the 45 rs which the Volvo bus conductor has given us.We did make a stop at Cosmos for Sivas to buy a Keyboard and mouse. But there too Bhadri ended up buying a harddisk :D. After this we went to Kaapi Kadai and had 3 dosas. We 3 ate from a single plate fighting like school kids :D. And finally, we heard something soothing our ears--> Sivas decides to head back to his house. :D. Me and Bhadri returned back and we were happy that finally shopping is over and we started watching the movie. But a call on my mobile all of sudden disturbs us.No prizes for guessing--> It was Sivass. Apparently the wireless keyboard that he had bought wasn working. :D:D What a day!!!(No this wasnt my reply to Sivas . I was talking about the day).
